UPDATE: Industrial action in France - Tuesday 8th November 2011

Following on from our communication on Friday 4th November regarding the forthcoming industrial action in France, we have now received further information including the transport plan.

The details are as follows.

Day services 7th November 2011

TGV

8501 - with a delay of 50 minutes (engineering works in Agen)
8511 - with a delay of 35 minutes (engineering works in Agen)
5116/7 - this will terminates in Toulouse
6175 - this will terminate in Nice
6769 - this will terminate in Besançon

INTERCITES

460 - cancelled
3661 - this will terminate in Brive instead of Cahors
3631 - this will terminate in Toulouse instead of Cerbère
Paris to Bourges to Montluçon: 3 returns
Paris to Orléans to Tours: 1 in 3 trains are not stopping in Orléans.

Overnight services 7th - 8th November 2011

Artésia: Normal service
Elipsos: Only 474 and 477 will run
Passengers booked on to the 409 Paris - Madrid service, leaving on 7th November can travel on a bus service from Paris Austerlitz until Valladolid then travel on an AVE service to Madrid Chamartin.
Alleo: Normal service
Lunéa: Only 3750 and 3751 (without a stop in Rodez), 5772 and 5773
Auto Trains: all cancelled

After sales

SNCF journeys:

All tickets with a reservation (Public, Group and RIT, and regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on the ticket) valid for travel within France between 20:00 on Monday 7th and 08:00 on Wednesday 9th November 2011 can be used on any other train, operating on the same route as the original ticket until midnight on Wednesday 9th November 2011. Tickets cannot be used to travel the day before the strike. Seats cannot be guaranteed during this time.

Due to expected service disruptions, the timetable cannot be guaranteed.

Groups are advised not to travel during the strike.

Tickets must still be validated in the yellow machines at the station, prior to boarding the train.

Exchanges and Refunds:

Customers due to travel in France from 20:00 on Monday 7th to 08:00 on Wednesday 9th November 2011 who wish to cancel their journey, can obtain a full refund before or after departure. Passengers wishing to postpone their journey for a date after the strike, this will be processed as a full refund, followed by the sale of a new ticket. You will need to pay any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new ones.

Passengers in possession of a return ticket, whose outbound journey is due to take place during the strike, can obtain a full refund on both the outbound and inbound legs of their journey.

AutoTrain journeys:

Passengers who opt not to travel between the aforementioned times can obtain a full refund, regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on their original AutoTrain and passenger tickets.

Passengers can have their AutoTrain and passenger tickets exchanged free of charge for travel within 7 days of the date on their original ticket. Any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets will be covered by the SNCF.

In order to process any refunds, tickets must be received by International Rail within 28 days of the date of travel. Tickets should be sent to the following address.

We recommend that tickets are returned using special delivery.

Eurostar:

A normal service is expected to operate. Eurostar and Eurostar Connections ticket conditions will remain and refunds and exchanges will only be available if ticket conditions allow.

Lyria:

Passengers with tickets for the 9287 and the 9284 are able to travel on the Paris Bern route on the 9th of November at no extra cost but with no guaranteed availability, this includes the Piccolissimo, Piccolo and leisure fares.

Exchange:
Any customer wanting to exchange their ticket can do so by having a full refund on the original ticket and buy a new one. If there is a price difference between the new ticket and the original, the extra cost will be for the customer to pay.

Refunds:
If the client decided to cancel, a full refund is due regardless of the ticket conditions.

Elipsos:

Passengers due to travel on a cancelled Elipsos service can obtain a full refund.

Exchanges must be processed as a full refund followed by a new sale. If the cost of the new ticket is greater than that of the original ticket, passengers will be required to pay this difference in cost.

Alternative modes of transport have been put in place for some Elipsos services that have been cancelled due to the strike.

Passengers who opt to travel on these alternative modes of transport will be refunded the difference between the cost of their original ticket and the cost of a reclining seat ticket (provided the cost of a reclining seat is cheaper than their original ticket).
