Industrial action in France - Tuesday 8th November 2011

Please note that we now have further information on the strike that is due to take place in France.

Industrial Action will take place in France on Tuesday 8th November 2011, starting at 20:00 on Monday 7th until 08:00 on Wednesday 9th November 2011.

Please find below the after-sales conditions that apply to tickets valid on French domestic journeys only.

SNCF journeys:

All tickets with a reservation (Public, Group and RIT, and regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on the ticket) valid for travel within France between 20:00 on Monday 7th and 08:00 on Wednesday 9th November 2011 can be used on any other train, operating on the same route as the original ticket until midnight on Wednesday 9th November 2011. Tickets cannot be used to travel the day before the strike. Seats cannot be guaranteed during this time.

Due to expected service disruptions, the timetable cannot be guaranteed.

Groups are advised not to travel during the strike.

Tickets must still be validated in the yellow machines at the station, prior to boarding the train.

Exchanges and Refunds:

Customers due to travel in France from 20:00 on Monday 7th to 08:00 on Wednesday 9th November 2011 who wish to cancel their journey, can obtain a full refund before or after departure. If a customer wishes to postpone their journey for a date after the strike, this will be processed as a full refund, followed by the sale of a new ticket. Passengers will need to pay any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new ones.

Passengers in possession of a return ticket, whose outbound journey is due to take place during the strike, can obtain a full refund on both the outbound and inbound legs of their journey.

AutoTrain journeys:

Passengers who opt not to travel between the aforementioned times can obtain a full refund, regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on their original AutoTrain and passenger tickets.

Passengers can have their AutoTrain and passenger tickets exchanged free of charge for travel within 7 days of the date on their original ticket. Any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets will be covered by the SNCF.

Eurostar:

A normal service is expected to operate. Eurostar and Eurostar Connections ticket conditions will remain and refunds and exchanges will only be available if ticket conditions allow.


In order to process any refunds, tickets must be received by International Rail within 28 days of the date of travel. Tickets should be sent to the following address.
