Booking Help

Making a booking on InternationalRail.com could not be easier!

Rail Pass or a Rail Ticket?

First of all decide whether you need a rail ticket or a pass for your journey. Remember that Passes tend to offer much better value for money and additional flexibility if you plan on making a number of journeys in the same country or region. Passes are available for over 40 countries.

To view a snapshot of the most popular passes, please visit our "Passes at a Glance" page.

Booking a Pass

In order to book a rail pass, you will need to be on the page for that particular pass.

If the page has a pricing table, it will mean that you can complete your booking online. All you need to do, is to click on the price that reflects the pass that you wish to purchase (the type and the validity). When you click on the price, the pass is added to your shopping basket. Once in the shopping basket you can also add a child pass for each Adult or Senior Pass that you are purchasing.

Unfortunately, not all passes can be booked online. That is due to the complex nature of some of the rail products available meaning that you will need to contact us on 08700 84 14 10 in order to complete your booking.

Booking a Rail Ticket or making a reservation

We have over 70,000 routes available to book online, covering Europe (including Eurostar), North America and Australia.

You can start your search using our City to City booking form.

You need to provide the origin and destination station names, date(s) of travel and number of passengers. Note that with some routes, you have the option of booking a return ticket. The booking form is programmed to highlight these routes once you have provided the station names.

We have created an interactive European Map to help you if you are not sure of the station name(s) or have not quite planned your complete trip. On this page, you will also find maps for USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Booking Horizon

The booking horizon represents the number of days or months between the date of your booking and the date of travel.

Different Railways have different booking horizons for rail tickets or passes issues for their country. The average tends to be between 90 and 120 days). You are advised of these once you add the product into your shopping basket.

Please note that you should also allow at least 5 working days for the travel documents to get to you (unless if you have opted for next working day delivery or if the product that is being booked allows for collection at the station). Delivery information.

If you are travelling within 5 days or need to make an enquiry for a journey beyond the booking horizon, then please contact us on 08700 84 14 10 or email us.
