The Scenic Rail Pass offers two flexible 7-day and one 14-day options!

The North & South Island Passes include all three of the TranzScenic trains:

  • The Overlander Auckland - Wellington vv
  • The TranzCoastal Picton-Christchurch vv
  • The TranzAlpine Christchurch-Greymouth vv

with the bonus of one Interislander Ferry journey Wellington-Picton or vice versa included in the pass.

Or choose the South Island Pass with just the TranzCoastal and TranzAlpine trains.

The Scenic Rail Pass is an easy to use, great value pass for the independent traveller, providing genuine savings off the standard adult fare and offering unlimited travel on the trains chosen throughout the seven or fourteen day validity period of the pass. The pass is non-exchangeable and non-refundable once booked and the only requirement is that the start date be notified on booking.

All TranzScenic trains include an open air viewing area and the carriages are carpeted, centrally heated and air-conditioned so you can sit back and enjoy the view from your panoramic window. The trains are licensed and include a buffet carriage where you can purchase a wide selection of light meals and snacks.
