The Hudson bay

For a total change of scene, head off aboard the Hudson Bay for a 1,700 kilometre journey (over 1,000 miles!) through Manitoba to the shores of Hudsons Bay.
Leaving Winnipeg, in the heart of the prairies, you travel via The Pas to Churchill, a city in the vast sub arctic region, on the shores of Hudson Bay famous for it's Polar Bears in winter and Beluga whales in summer.
The journey takes approximately 36 hours, and the service operates three times a week, year round. Reclining seats, sections or bedrooms can be reserved for this journey.
The Hudson Bay features regional cuisine prepared fresh on board in the dining car, cozy accommodations and stunning views of the prairies, lakes forests and tundra en route to Hudson's Bay.
Visitors come from around the world to whale-watch; experience the northern lights shimmering in the sky and to safely observe polar bears in their natural habitat (seasonal).
The best way to visit the frozen north in comfort and safety the Hudson Bay travels three times a week in either direction. En-route meet the people who live in this rugged part of the country, ranging from members of First Nations to the descendants of the European families that settled here all of whom rely on the train as the only form of overland transportation serving many of the communities.
In this inhospitable region words such as team, community, and friends take on a new meaning making the people some of the most welcoming in the country. The further north you go the fewer roads there are until eventually there are no roads at all and you realize how remote the region actually is - and how privileged you are to be there.
