The East Coast Discovery Pass allows 6 months Economy Class Seat travel on Countrylink and Queensland Rail services in one direction only, either North or South, with unlimited stopovers between the locations endorsed on the ticket.

The East Coast Discovery Pass is available for travel on rail services operated by Queensland Rail and CountryLink including:

• The Sunlander
• Tilt Trains
• XPLORER
• XPT trains and connecting coaches east of the main line

Use of this pass must begin within six months of the date of issue and be completed within six months from the first validity date (first date of travel). The pass is available on Mainline Countrylink and Queensland Rail, East Coast Rail and Integrated Coach services only.

Travel on Sydney City Rail services is only allowed in conjunction with a connecting Countrylink service. Travel is not available on Brisbane CityTrain, Melbourne Met or V-Line services. Travel is permitted on the Cairns Tilt Train on payment of a surcharge. Reservations are compulsory and, as many of Countrylink and Queensland Rail's services are heavily patronized year round, arranging reservations as far in advance as practical will ensure maximum benefit from the Pass.

East Coast Discovery Pass Benefits

• Travel can be taken over a six month period.
• Unlimited stop-overs in a single direction of travel (i.e. north or south) in economy seats.
• Free travel on coastal coach connections that link the main east coast rail line with Eden, Forster, Port Macquarie, Yamba, Byron Bay, Surfers Paradise, the Fraser Coast, the Whitsundays and Yeppoon.
• One journey on Brisbane's Citytrain service when in possession of a valid Traveltrain ticket to connect with a Traveltrain service.
• One journey on Sydney's CityRail service with a valid Countrylink ticket to connect with a Countrylink service.
• Exceptional value for money.
• Freedom and flexibility - travel at your own pace and hop on or off the train when and where you like.

A reservation and a valid ticket are required for each individual journey.

Passengers are requested to arrive at their first station of travel at least 90 minutes prior to departure to have their Voucher exchanged for a Pass and validated for travel. Pass exchange stations for the East Coast Discovery Pass are Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.

Economy seating on Countrylink and Queensland Rail services can be upgraded to first class seats or sleepers, subject to availability, and the upgraded value will be the amount of the difference in the fare between the economy ordinary fare and the upgraded fare plus any ancillary charges.   No discount is available for seniors / students / backpackers / children.

Pre-booking, amendment or cancellation of all train/coach bookings is required at least 24 hours in advance.  To ensure you obtain maximum value from your pass, you are strongly advised to reserve space on as many sectors as possible before travel (and at least 24 hours) or before arrival in Australia if itinerary is known.

You can pre-book any journeys onto your pass in advance through ourselves for a small per journey charge, plus any fuel and upgrade surcharges should these be applicable.
